Our Story

Plan B Engineering was founded in 2005 by John McErlean and Andrew Angelilli with a mission to deliver creative solutions for structural and access problems in dense urban environments. They were driven by the need to help owners, contractors, and design professionals navigate complex construction challenges more efficiently. They recognized that lack of communication and understanding often resulted in lost time and money; this is what they set out to change. New York City, with endless energy for growth and renewal, quickly became an outlet for their unique approach. What started as a two-man vision from a home office has grown into dedicated team of experts licensed in all 50 states with a nationwide portfolio.

Plan B Engineering is a structural engineering firm specializing in unique shoring, access, and site safety solutions. Our plans bridge the gap between design and construction by identifying efficiencies and solving problems that arise during a project life cycle. Our impact can be seen across the country, from the top of the Empire State Building and the Hudson Yards towers in New York City, down to the foundations of the Landmark II Tower in Los Angeles.
